Invitation to new Box Leagues

Dear all

I am pleased to announce that the new optimistically-titled 'Spring' Singles & Doubles Box Leagues will start on Monday February 2nd and run until the end of May.

As both leagues are starting together this time and there are some slight differences in the way they are organised, can I ask you to read this note carefully!

SINGLES LEAGUE - Current Players

If you are currently in the singles box league and have played at least 1 match, you will be automatically included in the next league, so you only need to contact me if you want to withdraw from this upcoming league. If you want to withdraw, please let me know by Sunday February 1st.

Existing players who did not play a match in the existing league will not be eligible for the new league.

DOUBLES LEAGUE - Current Players

Because people sometimes switch pairings, all existing pairs will need to re-apply by Sunday 1st February if you want to join the Spring League. All existing pairs who stay the same for the Spring League will have their positions decided by the normal promotion / relegation rules. All new pairings will be slotted in best I can!

BOTH LEAGUES - New Players

The Box Leagues are for all members, regardless of ability and its a great way to play friendly, competitive tennis wth different players of a similar standard. If any new players would like to join either competition for this Spring League, then please reply to this email or DM me by Sunday 1st February . For the doubles league, its helpful if you enter as a pair, which can be 2 x men, 2 x women or a mixed pair.

Off Peak members are welcome to join, although if you need to play a match during peak times, then it will need to be booked by the other member(s) and you will need to pay a guest fee.

IMPORTANT

The leagues are gret fun, but they rely on everybody having both the time and motivation to proactively schedule their games - its never easy and it takes a degree of tenacity to chase people sometimes! So please only put yourself forward if you are 100% able to commit to organising and playing all your 4 or 5 matches over the period. Its not a lot of matches, but does take quite a bit of time and effort, especially if you join both leagues...

Promotion / Relegation

I occasionally get asked about how we magically move people between boxes, so I've also attached the guidelines we use to make those massive calls. Feel free to read them or not!

Any questions, as always, give me a shout

Ian
