Box League update & reminder

Dear [[firstname]]

A quick update about both the singles and doubles box leagues as we enter the final month!

Cut-off date

Matches in both leagues need to be played by April 30th - there will be no extension as both leagues have been going for over 2 months already!

Some of the boxes are nearly complete, others are still to get going - so use this lovely weather to be pro-active and contact people...

Top Tips for getting matches organised...

From discussions with those of you who DO regularly manage to play your games - you have made a few suggestions which I have shared below - apologies if they are all blindingly obvious (especially the first point!) but if you are now left with arranging 5 matches in a month, they might be helpful!

  1. Don't wait for others to contact you
  2. Try DMing everybody individually suggesting a couple of times (not just in the group) - people are more likely to respond to a personal request
  3. Offer dates throughout the month, not just in the next week - and then make a diary note to book them a week beforehand
  4. For doubles games - first find out what your partner can make and then contact ONE of the other players with some dates and get them to check with their partner and come back to you. Otherwise you are in the dreaded 4-way diary matching loop which can be v frustrating.
  5. If you are on the receiving end of emails or DMs, then please don't ghost the sender - they have gone to the trouble of suggesting dates so respond quickly - maybe with some dates of your own if you can't make the suggested ones...

Cancellations

If you have commited to play and somehting comes up, then please don't just cancel - instead suggest some more dates.

Given there is only 1 month to go, any late cancellations where you can't rearrange a rematch can be logged as a 3-0 walkover, but please agree that with your opponent before posting...

Injuries and Unavailability

As you know if you don't play any matches in a period, you will not be included in the next league

However we know that injuries and life can get in the way, so - if you have not played any games so far and are unlikely to be able to play any in April then let me know asap (just reply to this email) and I can take you out of the league, meaning you will still be eligible for next time.

Think thats it - enjoy the sunshine and we look forward to some tight finishes again come the end of the month!

Ian
