Winter Update and Reminders

Dear [[firstname]]

Firstly, thank you to all who have helped and used the leaf blower over the autumn season to remove seeds and leaf debris from the courts. It really helps to keep our courts in great condition for everyone! Now we have reached the end of the leaf fall season most of the leaves and seeds have been removed from the courts over the last couple of days and that will be completed over the weekend.

The Lawn
As we enter the winter season the main grounds issue is the lawn. The lawn has been fertilised and reseeded and top soil will be applied over the winter months so the grass is in great condition for next summer. Please try and keep off the grass unless you are collecting a ball. This allows the lawn to recover and stops it being turned into a quagmire over winter.

The Embankment
Please do not attempt to retrieve balls that have gone down the embankment. It is very steep and dangerous and the land belongs to Network Rail. This area is Out of Bounds to the tennis club. At their last inspection visit this year they were concerned that we did not have a secure barrier. We assured them that members do not trespass down onto the embankment.

Keep the clubhouse and grounds tidy
Every day we collect rubbish left around the grounds. Sweet wrappers, tissues, disposable coffee cups, ball cans, orange peel etc etc. Please use the courtside bins or best of all, take your rubbish home with you. If you do see rubbish please do pick it up and put it in the bins even if it is not yours.

Please leave the kitchen as you find it, wash up any items you use and return them to the cupboards.

If you turn on a heater in the clubhouse then you are responsible for switching it off when you leave.

Bike Rack
ALL bikes need to be placed in the bike racks next to court 3. Do not bring bikes to the clubhouse. Thank you.

Guests
Please always choose ‘Guest’ as your opponent(s) so the £5 guest fee per person is taken out of your account. Please do not give the gate codes to any non-members, you are responsible for bringing them in and out of the club.

Apologies for the long list but if everyone does their bit it really helps to keep the clubhouse and grounds looking good.

Have a enjoyable Christmas and best wishes for a happy 2026!
