Grounds and Facilities Update

Dear [[firstname]]

Grounds and Facilities Update

Security
On a few occasions recently the club has been left open overnight. We are ALL responsible for security at the club. If you are the last to leave at any time, day or night, you need to check that the club is locked. This applies even if you have only played tennis and not entered the clubhouse.
Please check that all lights are off in the clubhouse. Use both keys to lock the door (checking that no-one is in the clubhouse!) and replace the keys in the joists. Lock the inner gate (RESET 6837) and, as always, close the secure perimeter gate behind you.

It really is important to do this so that the club remains secure and safe for us all.

Kitchen
A reminder too that if you use the kitchen facilities please wash up and leave the kitchen as you found it. The kitchen is supplied with tea, coffee and milk and please feel free to use.

The wildlife flower meadow
As you will have noticed the area on the lawn adjacent to courts 1 and 2 are now starting to take shape as the meadow area. This is already attracting more bees, butterflies, and other insects and birds. It will look ‘untidy’ for a while whilst the grass diminishes and the flowers start to dominate. This will take place over the coming years until we have a beautiful, mature, wild flower meadow in around three years time. It will not affect the view of the courts, the flowers chosen are all natural meadow flowers that do not grow high.

It is very important that footfall in this area is kept to a minimum to allow the flowers to become established. Please only enter this area to retrieve balls. A plea to parents too, please supervise children and stop them entering the meadow area. Thank you!

The Rockery (on the slope near to the water point next to court 3)

Over the last few years we have replanted this area extensively but it still keeps getting trampled. To retrieve balls please walk along the gutter and avoid stepping on the rockery, thank you!

Court Maintenance
As mentioned previously we will shortly be undertaking court cleaning and maintenance to all four courts. Two will be done at a time so there will always be two courts available for members to book. As soon as the dates are confirmed I will update the booking sheets.

Other Issues
I have recently collected a number of golf balls around the grounds. I have no idea where they are coming from but I will take the opportunity to remind everyone that no ball sports other than tennis is allowed at the club.

As always, if you have any questions regarding the grounds and facilities please contact me directly.

Thank you and enjoy your tennis!
Kind regards, Mike
