I hope you have been enjoying your tennis over this lovely summer although the hot and dry conditions have caused a few issues!
Court Cleaning
Our grounds contractors’ primary responsibility is to clear courts of leaves, seeds and other debris to ensure they are in great condition for play. Recently tennis players have denied them access to the courts. If you are playing when the contractors arrive
please cease play for the time it takes to allow them to clear and collect debris.
In addition please remember that the electric blower located in the clubhouse is available for all members to use and clear the courts before they play, particularly as autumn leaf fall has commenced early again this year.
Court 1 Subsidence
Unfortunately, as you will have noticed, there is subsidence behind the baseline of court 1 and into the doubles tram in the corner adjacent to the path nearest the clubhouse. This appears to be the result of another hot and dry summer and is in the same location as last year. The surface was levelled last October with two tonnes of concrete and we intend to undertake the same repair as soon as possible.
Additionally, court 2 requires a repair due to a 5mm gap at the seam for approximately three metres on the doubles tram line on the embankment side. Both repairs will be undertaken simultaneously and are likely to take a maximum of two days. Once the dates are confirmed we will update the booking sheets as the upper courts will be closed for the duration of the works.
